Optimizing and fine tuning already released software is an ongoing process in most complex control systems. As new functionality or system improvements are being released in the latest machines, VMI always strives to make these Software Improvements also backward compatible to previous systems under the condition that the older hardware can support the new software.
VMI understands the cost impact of having to update systems and therefore jointly with you we look for the ideal moment in time to do this. Very often it is planned in combination with regular Preventive Maintenance or a Machine Upgrade or Retrofit.
Software Improvements allow for an increase in efficiency or improvements in cycle time for example. It is therefore important not to overlook them for your current install base. Our Service Advisors are available to assist you to evaluate all possibilities for your install base. Based on a positive return on investment calculation, VMI offers you these Software Improvements, which you can easily incorporate in your business case.
Your VMI Service Advisor is your single point of contact during the complete process. Possibilities for your machines are evaluated and recommendations prioritized on what should be done urgently to increase efficiency or cycle time, or what can be seen as plannable for future long term investment. Part of the discussion is to determine the added value for your organization and to scope the upgrade in such a way that it is risk free and affordable.
When the order is placed for a Software Improvement, engineering is done and the software is prepared based on a back-up of your current system. After programming of the software, our Field Service team, either remotely or on-site, deploys and tests the new software. The Software Improvement is further completed by training for your Operators and Maintenance teams and you receive updated machine documentation matching the new configuration.
