Last Friday, December 21st during the annual Christmas party, Mr. Harm Voortman, President & CEO of machine manufacturing company VMI Holland BV in Epe, was presented the plaque – Iron company 2012- , by Mr. Rob van Beek, consultant Health & Safety & Environment and project group member 5xBeter (5 times better) of the FME (Dutch employers’ organization of the technological industry).
Susanne Rambali, improvement coach 5xBeter, attending the ceremony said: “5xBeter – Iron for safe work, is the joint project of employers’ organizations and trade unions in the Metal industry and Metalektro to improve working conditions. It brings together employers and employees through the Metaalunie, FME, CNV, FNV and the Unie.”
5xBeter started searching for companies which invested in a more safe and healthy working environment last year. Specifically companies that made big steps forward and showed striking achievements, sometimes against the pressure of cost saving programs, were evaluated. This year 5xBeter elected VMI Iron Company 2012 from the many inspiring stories of the Metalektro which FME received”, says the explanation to the price.
“Safety and a healthy working environment are for us the basis for continuity of our company. By lean and structured work (5S) we are able to cope with future challenges and secure a sound economic position. We are pleased that the efforts we have made in this field were noticed by 5xBeter and that we have been rewarded with this award”, thus a proud President & CEO, Mr. Voortman.
VMI as a winner in the Metalektro and Deltour winner in the Metal industry will additionally receive a lot of attention by 5xBeter and will be ambassadors for safe and healthy work in the technological and metal industry in 2013.
