Testing machines are becoming increasingly important in the tire industry. Today the development period for new vehicles is less than two years. The number of sports cars and cross-country vehicles with four-wheel drive is growing and these require tires with superior on-road performance as well as off-road properties.
At the same time, light trucks and vans are being driven at higher speeds and needing tires that professionally handle these changing conditions. Couple this with an continuing increase in the retread truck tire market and its obvious that tyre testing has never been more vital.
Force and moment tire testing machines
VMI's force and movement testing equipment meets all requirements for tire characteristics including dynamic slip angle alteration, camber angle adjustment and hub drive. All movements and forces are measured to monitor development and a six component measuring hub records all the information in detail for reference. Our fully digital, user friendly menu operated control system includes a single time test controller and the industrial PC within the control cabinet which stores the data and offers numerous test control functions including the option of loading externally edited software programs. VMI's sophisticated measuring facility is ideal for high performance tire development.
The modular machine can be assembled for either passenger or truck tires and in one or dual station mode. For passenger tires the configuration speed will be 320 km/h with a high speed option up to 420 km/h whilst truck tires are tested with a speed of 220km/h with a maximum load of 100kN.

Tread wear tire testing machines
VMI's tread wear testing equipment is specifically designed to provide exact simulations of
passenger tires. The tests are performed in a laboratory so tread wear can be determined swiftly and with more precise repeatability than conventional road tests.
Wheel load, acceleration and performance as well as movement is simulated to reproduce the forces and movements a tire experiences on the road.
