VMI's line of tire assembly systems are capable of producing a large range of passenger car, light truck, all steel truck and bus plus other tires in various sizes that conform to TRA and ETRO standards. The machines include many facilities and benefits including automatic measuring, cutting and positioning of various components, dynamic breaker positioning, fast size change, automatic green tire removal and machine performance monitoring ensuring top quality and low cost per tire.
Sub systems of these tire building machines are also available to boost performance on older machinery.
Mechanical carcass building and shaping drum
Our patented mechanical carcass building and shaping drum is available on all VMI's single stage radial passenger tire assembly machinery and is designed for bead ranges from 13 up to 24 inches, The carcass is built in exactly the same way as on the existing bladder type drum but the sidewall turn-up and body ply (or plies) are produced by the drum's mechanical arms.
This mechanical drum replaces the traditional system of roll-over cans and bladders and therefore eliminates any bladder replacement downtime to reduce the overall cost per tire. It is also worth noting that green tires assembled on a mechanical drum have better uniformity than on a bladder drum.

Carcass building & shaping drum with high shoulder
This drum is specifically designed to assemble a green tire from serviced components with the high shoulder supporting the lower bead/apex inside area during turn-up and shaping therefore reducing deformation and improving component consolidation in the bead area. The drum is available for tire sizes with bead diameters from 12 up to 20 inches and under certain condition can be used on transfer type tire building machines of other makes.

Breaker & tread building drum
This drum is designed to assemble the breaker and tread package for radial passenger tires and although the drum is primarily for use with VMI's radial passenger single or second stage tire building systems, it can (under certain conditions) also be used on other makes.
