VAST family of all steel radial truck and bus tire assembly systems

VMI is a leading supplier of single stage tire building systems for radial tires. Our family of all steel truck and bus tire assembly systems are designed and built using the very latest technology to give you high, flexible and reliable performance in producing a top quality end product. The wide range from the standard truck and bus tires, up to the more sophisticated super single truck tires, all can be made on our assembly systems. In the standard configuration the tire bead size capability is from 17.5” to 24.5”.

 

General features of the VAST family are: 

  • Mechanical (no bladders) drums for shaping, carcass and breaker & tread package building:
  • Dual bead size shaping drum with concentric and mechanical bead lock system;
  • Modular and transparently structured controls with user friendly HMI at each building station;
  • Minimum tire size and code change time such as software (tire menu in HMI) controlled tire size change (within same bead diameter);
  • Ergonomically designed green tire removal system, which can be tailor-made to your needs;
  • Modular design allowing for customization of the machine to your tire design, at minimum extra cost;

The VAST family of all steel radial truck and bus tire assembly machines comprises a three drums semi-automatic model VAST-SA, a three drums automatic model VAST-3HP, a highly automated four drums model VAST-4HP, and a highly automated four drums model VAST-4HP compact having a minimal floorprint. Each of these tire assembly systems has its own distinct features that enable you to select the machine best suited to your manufacturing process and business environment. All models use proven VMI’s tire assembly technology. The high level of compatibility between the various models allows future upgrading when required.

All steel truck radial tire assembly machine, model VAST-SA

The VAST SA or semi-automatic three drums version is specifically designed to benefit from low labor cost situations. Directly derived from the high performance automatic systems, the VAST SA offers an economical solution for customers in developing markets. The level of automation has been reduced selectively in order not to compromise the potential to build high quality tires, but to make optimal use of low cost labor. Being upgradable to a more productive four drum execution and/or a more automatic system, the VAST SA offers flexibility and growth potential for the future.

All steel truck radial tire assembly machine, model VAST 3HP

Our three drums version with higher automation level and increased output when compared with the SA version. Increased use of automated processes delivers high and consistent tire quality, tire after tire. With a lower initial investment level when compared to a four drum automatic configuration, the VAST-3 system is ideal for certain tire constructions, pilot projects and ramp-up situations. The system can easily be upgraded to a four drum system by installing a second shaping drum and –drive unit VMI offers as a standard retrofit.

The VAST–4HP is a four drum design with a high automation level and further increased output when compared with the VAST-3 version by means of its double shaping drum. Many of the tire components are measured, cut and applied automatically on the B&T and carcass drum. These separate packages are then transferred to the two mechanical shaping drums for final shaping and stitching. The VAST consistently delivers the highest green tire quality in the industry with an unprecedented productivity up to 450 truck or bus tires per day.

All steel truck radial assembly machine, model VAST-4HP compact

The VAST–4HP compact is of the same four drum configuration and high automation level as the formentioned VAST-4HP, but designed for minimal floorspace requirement. The VAST-4HP compact is equipped with a special shaping drum rotation unit (see picture below), which allows a machine lay-out approximately 30% smaller in floor print when compared to the non-compact machine types. The machine accessibility,  functionallity and performance has not been compromised and is the same as the non-compact VAST-4HP.

Auxiliary equipment

VMI is leading supplier of single stage tire assembly systems and developed a large range component servicers and tooling for their equipment. This ancillary equipment is available as an optional or alternative module which can be selected to customize the machine configuration of new machines as well as retrofitted to your existing tire building systems. Over the years VMI developed for their all steel truck tire assembly systems, highly automated servicers for components like breakers, tread, textile or steel chafer strips, inner liner, body ply and side walls. These component servicers can be tailor made to your needs and their flexibility can be a supplement to your existing tire building process and will boost performances of existing older tire assembly machines:
 

  • Extra wide breaker servicers for super single truck tire production;
  • Several types of nylon chafer-, steel chafer- and/or gum strip applicators;
  • Reel- or pre-cut type tread applicators with dynamic centring and length correction for hands-off application;
  • Servo driven turn-up system for full synchronisation and speed control;
  • Center-deck systems for accurate application of breaker cushion;
  • Various tire removal solutions to match your green tire logistics.
