Fully automatic bead-apex assembly system for passenger tires

VMI's bead apexing systems are able to accommodate specific bead diameters ranging from 14 to 24 inches. The basic single station system applies the apex to the bead. In continuous operations, apexes from 10mm up to 70mm in height can be applied. There is the option of production runs between 7,000 through 10,000 assemblies in a 24 hour period, with minimal involvement of an operator.

Our bead apex lines utilise VMI-AZ extrusion technology in its apex strip in-line and depending on characteristics of the extruded compound there is a choice between a Pin-Barrel extruder, a Multi-Cut Transfermix (MCTD) extruder or a Planetruder®. The extruder is fully integrated into the controls of the line and includes VMI's patented quick die change head, and a significant saving in downtime.

Direct extrusion combined with automated apex application ensures a consistently high quality of apexed bead, vital in automated tire building machinery.
