TPE / TPV compounding

Planetruder®

The VMI-AZ Planetruder® is used as a side feed extruder in continuous mixing applications for both thermoplastic elastomers (TPE/TPV) and rubber mixing and is connected to the compounding extruder to feed an extremely high precision continuous amount of rubber into the compounding extruder.

For most continuous mixing applications a co-rotating twin screw is utilized (which is a familiar practice in the plastic industry).

VMI-AZ's Planetruder® offers the following advantages as a side feeder for compounding extruders:  

• The working principle of the planetary gear pump makes the feeding precision of the Planetruder® better than +/- 0.4%.
• Within the Planetruder® the rubber is constantly pre-heated and enters the compounding extruder at an even temperature therefore simplifying the compounding process (compared to cold pellet feeding). 
• Our single drive Planetruder's® compact design means it can be easily attached to the compounding extruder without taking up excessive space. 
• The Planetary gear pump is completely leakage free
• The Planetruder® also accommodates strips eliminating the need for rubber pelletizing
