Combex continuous preformer

The VMI-AZ Combex system was designed for the continuous production of rubber preforms for use with vulcanisation presses. The procedure ensures the rubber is homogeneously plasticised, extruded with constant output and cut to required lengths and weight courtesy of a single screw rubber extruder with a volumetric operating gear pump and knife.

The VMI-AZ Combex system is available in three size options:

  • Combex 45 for low output preform production.
  • Combex 60 for medium preform production requirements.
  • Combex 90 for high preform production requirements.

Planetruder single drive system

The single drive Planetruder® is a side feed extruder for continuous mixing applications including the production of  thermoplastic elastomers (TPE / TPV) or continuous rubber mixing. For these applications the Planetruder is connected to a compounding extruder and feeds in an extremely high quality rubber. In most applications a co-rotating twin screw method is used which is also widely used in the plastic industry.

When using a Planetruder® as a side feeder for compounding extruders, it provides the following advantages:

  • Precise feeding
  • Rubber pre-heating
  • Easy integration
  • 100% leakage free

Three single drive versions of the Planetruder® are available in small, medium and large options:

  • Planetruder® S
  • Planetruder® M
  • Planetruder® L
  • Planetruder S

Shark cold feed strainer:

Extruder gear pump systems (Shark®)

Shark® Systems are primarily used for applications in cold feed straining and vacuum extrusion within the technical rubber industry and consist of a single screw extruder in conjunction with a two rotor gear pump. Depending on the application the single screw extruder can be used as a pin type, transfermix or transfermix vacuum extruder and unlike the Combex, features increased drive power to handle all kinds of cold feed applications.

Continuous mixing and straining

VMI-AZ Extrusion has developed a continuous final mixing system, called iCOM®, using the transfermix extruder mixing technology (MCTD) along with a gear pump.

This system is regarded as a proven, superior final mixing process providing final stage mixing and increased capacity on the internal mixer at a reduced cost with improved quality, for both sulfur and peroxide cured compounds.

With a transfermix single screw extruder mixer technology (MCTD) supported by a Shark® gear pump, the mixing parameters are easily optimized for every compound whilst the chemical dosing is provided by a gravimetric loss-in weight feeder. In addition a vacuum extruder can be used to eliminate gas inclusion.
