VMI wins award for innovation and excellence

At the Tire Technology Expo in Hamburg (Germany) VMI won the award for Innovation and Excellence in Tire Manufacturing for it’s new VMI MAXX Tire Building Machine.

An international jury mentioned the break through in fully automatic tire building as one of the reasons to choose the VMI MAXX out of 5 nominated innovations. The MAXX is completely new developed machine and is able to produce high quality passenger car green tires with a bead size of 14”- 24” with unmatched productivity.

Not only the building process is fully hands-off, also the loading of the beads and the unloading of the green tire is done automatically using robots. A completely new design include moving drums and a fixed transfer position to allow for a more precise process, flexibility and speed with unsurpassed quality of green tire production. Laser measuring devices and digital cameras automatically control and record the positioning of components and quality of splices.

VMI reports that the first VMI MAXX is already in production in Finland.
