VMI participated in Gulfcan conference in Bahrain

From 13-15 October 2009, VMI attended the GulfCan conference in Bahrain. VMI participated with a table top presentation and gave a successful seminar on the new VMI dry-off oven, offering interesting potential cost-savings.

These kind of conferences are of great importance to the can industry. In general they are three day events, featuring an exhibition (with table-top presentations) and seminars on the 2- and 3-piece can technology, attended by both those responsible for production as well as decision makers from the can making industry.

Networking

The conferences are ideal venues to make and maintain contacts, be informed about new developments and exchange ideas. Furthermore, the nature of these events is relatively informal and they take place in hotels. Exhibition, seminars and diners thus take place in the same location, offering great opportunities for networking as everyone meets everyone in hallways and exhibition rooms, at the dinner table etc.

Middle East has growth potentials

The Middle East remains a region not only with enormous growth potentials, but also with the resources to realize them. The average annual growth for beverage cans in this region is estimated on 6% for the coming 3-5 years, meaning investments in new plants will be made.
At this moment there are various new projects in the pipeline, to be realized within the coming 2-3 years (Iran, Jordan, Saudi Arabia). We will have to keep a close eye on these developments, to make sure we participate in the biddings when they start.

Next conference will be held in Bangkok in November, targeting the South East Asian region.
