First Seminar “Advanced Polymer Processing”

On November 19th, 2009 VMI Holland BV has organized in Bangkok, Thailand the seminar “Advanced Polymer Processing” for the Technical Rubber Industry in the region. This event was organized in cooperation with VMI’s two agents Thai Escorp Ltd. and Global Integrated Enterprise (Thai) Co., Ltd. Both agents, based in Bangkok, have a broad network in the Technical Rubber Industry in Thailand, Indonesia and India.

The purpose of this seminar was to introduce VMI’s extruders, strainers and preformers based on advanced extruder-gear pump technology known as VMI COMBEX® and VMI SHARK®. These machines provide higher efficiency combined with significant quality improvement compared to the traditional processes known in the Asean market like for example Barwell. Also VMI’s iCOM®, a revolutionary process for second stage mixing, has been introduced. This process uses an extruder-gear pump combination instead of the traditional Banbury mixing line. The extruder-gear pump taking in master batch compound while chemicals are dosed continuously the mixing efficiency of a millroom increases significantly and the compound quality improves as a result of much better and constant chemical dispersion.

The event, held in The Westin Grande Sukumvit in Bangkok, was split in a morning session for technical staff and an afternoon session for executives. The focus during the technical sessions was on technical applications, features and benefits. In the executive session the economical benefits of the VMI product lines have been highlighted. This has made the seminar very interesting for everybody. The seminar has been attended by Mixing Analysts, Production Managers, Engineers, CEO’s and Presidents of Compound Producers, Manufacturers of Rubber Moulded and Automotive Parts, The Governmental Rubber Institute and even Manufacturers of Golf Balls and all coming from Thailand, Indonesia and Taiwan. The response of the more than 45 people audience was very positive. The information that VMI has shared is useful food for thought for future expansion and company performance improvement and is seen as a positive impulse for Asean the region.

VMI experienced the concept of a seminar with spilt sessions each having a focus for the specific fields of interest as very positive. Finalizing the session with either lunch or diner gave the attendees the opportunity to network with the VMI team and colleagues of the industry so everybody got an interesting package of infotainment. All in all this seminar was a great success.
