The VMI 242 is VMI's new low-cost TBM, especially built for emerging markets with low labor costs. This single stage machine has relative to the VMI 248 a lower level of automation. The new VMI 242 TBM is suitable to build radial car tires in the range 14 – 20 “.

242 versus 248

The VMI 242 is equipped with state-of-the art controls and contains the same TBM body and is using the same tooling as the VMI 248. Therefore, with the use of two operators instead of one, the 242 gives a similar output as a 248, both in quality and quantity of tires.

Upgrading to 248 possible

The VMI 242 TBM’s are built according to a modular design which allows for future upgrading of this machine into a full VMI 248.
This makes this TBM a very attractive low-cost investment today, as well a worthwhile investment for the future.

• Semi-automatic carcass servicer
• Automatic tire building machine
• Tread applicator, pre cut or tread out of spools, automatic
• Cap strip applicator (optional)
