In January 2007 Collmann GmbH & Co KG, located in the Northern part of Germany, in Lübeck, and VMI Holland BV formed a strategic alliance to work closely together in sales, production and service. From that date VMI took over the sales and service activities from Collmann in the areas of retreading and tire uniformity in the important Chinese market. At the same time, the VMI(-Lang) test machines were built, tested and assembled at Collmann in Lübeck. In June 2008 VMI intensified the successful cooperation by buying 25% of the Collmann-shares from the current owner, with a strong option to take over the existing shares in 2009.

Collmann develops, assembles and sells products in the areas of buffing of retreadable tires, in the areas of X-Ray measurement, geometric measurement and eventually grinding and uniformity measurement of new tires and special machinery to handle or upgrade tires. Collmann is known for its superior –made in Germany- quality, combined with strong after sales and service. By the integration of the Collmann products VMI enlarges its broad portfolio both in new tire and retreading industry.

Collmanns range of products includes:

• X-Ray machines for PCT, light truck, truck, aircraft and OTR tires up to 63”
• Measuring- and grinding machines for PCT, light truck, truck, aircraft and OTR tires up to 63”
• Automated and manual buffing machines for PCT, light truck, truck, aircraft and OTR tires up to 63”
• Low speed uniformity machines for PCT tires
• Special machines in the (new) tire industry required in various niches of these markets, where our customers can make high profits based on –on demand- designed equipment.
