Where studies become experience

Develop your talents, expand your world – and experience what your career could be at the VMI Group. We enjoy working with students of all levels, so they can gain insight into the range of satisfying jobs in our industry. There are opportunities for hands-on learning, graduate projects, internships and more. All with a focus on a wide world of customers who demand high quality machinery.

Work/study courses (BBL2)

Learn by doing at VMI. We offer work/study programs for motivated students with a secondary vocational education (VMBO) certificate (with math). And because your course is at VMI, you’ll also gain valuable experience in an international, high-tech environment. Courses are held in cooperation with the Techniek Academie in Harderwijk, the Netherlands as well as the metal training center, OBM Zwolle (ROC Deltion).

Mechatronics Engineering
Learn how to assemble, install and adjust pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical parts with precision. Is everything working smoothly? And is the customer satisfied? Then it’s time to move on to a new machine – or travel with your machine to customers in China, Russia or the USA.

Industrial Electrical Engineering
Using drawings and diagrams, you learn about the connections that power all types of VMI machines. Including motors, sensors, cameras and valves. If you enjoy travel, we also offer chances to connect machines for our customers around the world.

Metal Working
Includes sawing, punching, drilling, setting and welding. You’ll learn how metal behaves and how to make the high quality parts we use to build our complex machines – some very small, and others up to 15m long!

Internships, graduation and minors

Part of a good education is learning about the type of work available – and having the chance to gain practical experience. VMI is always open to requests for internships, from students of all educational levels. We also have a long tradition of working with vocational (MBO) and college/university (HBO) students on their graduation projects. All project are subject to approval, and should be line with our training programs and the availability of supervisors. Students can also request to do their minor at VMI.

Practical assignments for schools

Many schools have taken advantage of the practical assignments an international company like VMI can offer their students. Our business lines are eager to help train a new generation of skilled men and women in fields that include:

  • Production – welding complete constructions, and assembly of state-of-the-art machinery
  • Engineering – design/construction of extremely complex machines; programming/testing in Epe (or abroad)
  • Business lines – professional support of all business lines, including R&D

Take a tour of VMI

Upon request, we also offer students a complete group tour of VMI’s facilities, beginning with a full company presentation and technical videos. Feel free to contact us if your school is interested.
