VMI supports youngest Epe Sports Club youth with mini artificial turf field
By participating in Alpe d’HuZes and Ride For Hope, it is clear that VMI feels strongly about sportsmanship and social commitment. In early September, Harm Voortman signed a contract with the soccer club “sv Epe” and in that way also put VMI on the sports map at the local level. VMI pledged to the club to adopt, for the next 6 years, the new mini artificial turf field for the youngest youth.
“It fits VMI philosophy perfectly to contribute in this way to the encouragement of healthy recreation for youth in Epe,” said Mr. Voortman. “As part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), VMI already supports various initiatives at the civic, cultural and social level. We find it very important to show that even though VMI is truly a global ‘player,’ it is also concerned with local interests.”
On Saturday August 31st, the new artificial turf fields were opened, as part of a Family Day (Open Day). There were plenty of activities for young and old, including beach soccer, ice cream cart, inflatable trampoline and the appearance of the Ronald McDonald clown. In the evening, the club organized a barbecue and live music for members and sponsors. The highlight of this evening and busy afternoon was the official opening of the fields by Alderman Jan Berkhoff.
